Drug pricing was in the spotlight again yesterday as the Senate Finance Committee questioned pharmacy benefit managers in what was predicted to be a “fiery hearing” punctuated by finger-pointing. Indeed, there was finger pointing, but how it all shakes out has yet to be determined. Meanwhile, conversations about drug pricing will continue — in and out of government — and thankfully, some will probably be more civil than others.
Next week, Intouch’s own Justin Chase, EVP of Innovation and Media, will participate in a panel discussion on the subject when the annual DTC National Conference convenes in Boston. The panel will also include Bob Ehrlich, Chairman & CEO of DTC Perspectives, Inc.; Dr. John F. Kamp, Washington Counsel for the Coalition for Healthcare Communication; and Robert Zirkelbach, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). The discussion is not predicted to be fiery, but it will surely be informative.
Intouch is also up for a few awards at the 2019 DTC National Advertising Awards, including two nominations each in the Best Disease Education Website and Best Established Brand Website categories, and one each in the Best New Brand or Indication Website, Most Innovative, and Best Established Brand Print categories. Congrats to all the nominees!
DTC National will be held April 16-18 in Boston. If you’d like to attend, there’s still time to register.
